Crews to put finishing touches on Highway 14/15 Minnesota River Bridge in New Ulm; begin landscaping April 13

MANKATO, Minn. — Highway 14/15 motorists and New Ulm residents should see some activity to put the final touches on the New Ulm Gateway project beginning the week of April 13.

Landscaping is expected to take place next week, as weather permits, with the majority of the trees and plants being placed by the New Ulm monument and median on 7th Street and the bench area on the trail near the new interchange.

The final Minnesota River Bridge aesthetics are also expected to be completed soon with work on the stone veneer and finishing taking place. Permanent surf is also being established.

Motorists are advised they may experience some minor short-term shoulder and lane closures during the landscaping and finishing work.

Following guidance from state health officials and to prevent further spread of COVID-19, MnDOT crews will maintain social distancing practices while working.

The Highway 14/15 New Ulm Gateway project addressed intersection safety, aging bridges, poor pavement conditions and occasional road flooding around New Ulm. Construction began in 2017, with the majority of the work and detours taking place in 2018 and 2019. More information can be found at mndot.gov/newulm.
