TRAVEL ADVISORY: Southbound Hwy 169 south of St. Peter to remain closed overnight due to continuing mudslides

MANKATO, Minn. – (3 p.m.) Motorists are advised that the southbound lanes of Highway 169 between Mankato and St. Peter will remain closed overnight due to on-going mudslides.  Highway 169 northbound is expected to remain open, but traffic should use caution as they may encounter some debris.

Motorists are advised to use Highway 22 as an alternate route until further notice.

MnDOT crews have been clearing the debris all day, but slides continue with the wet weather creating dangerous conditions.

Highway 112 at 311th Avenue near Le Sueur is also closed due to flash flooding.

Other Highways that remain closed:

  • Highway 19 east of Henderson (closed March 19 due to flooding)
  • Highway 93 south of Henderson (closed March 16 due to flooding)

When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
