Expect lane closure on eastbound Highway 14 in Mankato next week
Motorists advised to slow down and watch for workers
MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound lanes of Highway 14 from Highway 22 in Mankato to Blue Earth County Road 12 the week of October 15 as MnDOT crews work to replace concrete panels in the highway.
In late September, MnDOT replaced the damaged concrete in the driving lane, this project will replace the pavement in the passing lane and traffic will be carried in the driving lane.
Motorists will need to reduce their speeds and drive with caution as workers lives are on the line.
The actual repair work will only take two days, but the concrete needs to cure seven days before traffic is allowed on it. MnDOT maintenance crews had intended to get to the broken panels last year and that is why the work was not added to the larger Highway 14 construction project.
