Recommended layouts for Hwy 22 from Mapleton to St. Peter unveiled at open house October 11
MANKATO, Minn. — Following a series of focus group meetings and public open houses, state and local transportation planners have developed concept layouts for the future of Hwy 22 from Mapleton to St. Peter.
The concept layouts for three segments of Hwy 22 will be unveiled at a public open house on Thursday, October 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Minnesota Department of Transportation Mankato headquarters, located at 2151 Bassett Drive.
Attendees will have the chance to talk with the study team from MnDOT and the Mankato/North Mankato Area Transportation Planning Organization (MAPO); review concept layouts of the roadway, intersection and previously displayed trail alternatives; and learn about next steps. The open house will be drop-in style with informational displays and no formal presentation.
Anyone who cannot attend the meeting will be able to view the materials after the open house online by visiting th22corridorstudy.com.
This is the final public outreach on the Hwy 22 Corridor Study. A round of focus groups with an open house was completed in January to gain input into issues and opportunities on the corridor, followed by a series of three public open houses to share a wide range of alternatives.
MnDOT has a pavement project planned in 2023 from Highway 83 to Blue Earth County Road 57 (Riverfront Drive) and a pavement project planned in 2024 from County Road 57 to St. Peter. MnDOT will use final recommendations from the Hwy 22 Corridor Study in the environmental analysis and preliminary design of these projects.
