Hwy 62 in Windom open following flooding of Des Moines River
MANKATO, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation opened Hwy 62 in Windom this afternoon. The road was closed since Friday, July 6, due to flooding of the Des Moines River.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution as crews continue to work off the shoulder and surrounding area.
MnDOT worked closely with Cottonwood County officials and the city of Windom to construct a dike on Hwy 62 and other area roads on Friday.
Flooding is difficult to predict and roads may be closed or restricted without warning. Log jams can further complicate flood forecasts. MnDOT is closely monitoring rivers throughout the area.
Motorists should check road conditions at www.511mn.org.
