Hwy 60 construction starts April 30 to complete four-lane expansion
MANKATO, Minn. —Construction will resume on Highway 60 from Windom to Mountain Lake on Monday, April 30. The construction of two new westbound lanes will complete the Highway 60 four-lane expansion from Windom to St. James.
Traffic will remain on the existing two-lane section of Highway 60 while the additional lanes are being constructed. Traffic will then shift to the new lanes while existing lanes are resurfaced.
This eight-mile construction project is the final in a recent series of Highway 60 four-lane expansion projects, which includes:
- Eight miles of two new westbound lanes from Windom to Mountain Lake, in progress from 2017-2018
- Five miles of two new eastbound lanes from Mountain Lake to Butterfield, which was completed in 2015
- Six miles of two new eastbound lanes from Butterfield to St. James, which was completed in 2013-2014
Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye was awarded the project with a bid of $19,700,000.
