Road closures and no travel advisories remain in effect

MANKATO, Minn. – (8:00 a.m.) The road closures and no travel advisories issued yesterday remain in effect Sunday morning. The Minnesota Department of Transportation anticipates opening closures late Sunday morning and will announce when gates are removed.

The list of current road closures includes:

  • Interstate 90 from Blue Earth to the South Dakota border
  • Highway 60 from Mankato to Worthington
  • All state highways west of Highway 15

The counties where no travel is advised includes: Rock, Nobles, Jackson, Cottonwood, Blue Earth, Sibley, Faribault, Waseca, Nicollet, Martin, Watonwan, Brown and Le Sueur.

MnDOT plows are clearing snow and making progress, but roads are heavily compacted with snow and ice. In addition, there are a number of stuck vehicles blocking roadways and needing to be cleared. MnDOT reminds motorists to be patient while snowplow operators work to reopen roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for southern Minnesota through Sunday evening with additional accumulations and gusty winds.
