Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 13 detour for slope repair begins Sept. 6

MANKATO, Minn. — Motorists are advised that Highway 13 south of Highway 99 will be detoured beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6 for crews to repair a failing slope.

The detour consists of LeSueur County Roads 8 and 3 and Highway 99.  The detour will be in place until project completion in mid-October.

The project includes excavating an area just north of LeSueur County Road 138 where the road is settling due to poor underlying soils.  Crews will replace the poor soils with a light-weight geofoam material to prevent future sinking.

Raw Construction of Faribault is the contractor on the $450,000 project.
