Construction on Hwy 14 safety project at Eagle Lake progresses

County Road 56 intersection opens; workers move to County Roads 55 and 17 on July 9

MANKATO, Minn. – Highway 14 motorists in the Eagle Lake area are advised that the construction restrictions will move east to the intersections at Blue Earth County Roads 55 and 17 on July 9 and the intersection of Blue Earth County Road 56 will open, weather permitting.

Highway 14 traffic will be reduced to one lane each way until September and Blue Earth County Road 55 will be closed from July 9 to late August. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the work zones.

Construction of safety improvements at three intersections include:

  • Late May – July 9:  Highway 14 and Blue Earth County Road 56: An eastbound separated right turn lane and a westbound median acceleration lane
  • July 9 – Late August:  Highway 14 and Blue Earth County Road 55: A three-quarter intersection with turning restrictions
  • July 9 – Late August:  Highway 14 and Blue Earth County Road 17: J-turn (RCUT)

MnDOT worked with Blue Earth County and the city of Eagle to make safety improvements and the project was awarded federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding.
