Hwy 109 detoured for new surface beginning July 7

MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists on Hwy 109 from west of Easton to Hwy 22 at Wells will be detoured beginning July 7 as crews begin construction of a new road surface.

The detour includes Faribault County Road 17, County Road 16 and Hwy 22.

The project, which consists of reclaiming the old pavement and paving a new surface, is expected to be complete in mid-September.  MnDOT resurfaced the western portion of Hwy 109 in 2012 with the same operation.

Ulland Brothers, Inc. of Albert Lea was awarded the contract with a bid of $6,459,747.

With this project, MnDOT is working to enhance a safe, efficient and effective transportation system and ensure that the transportation system with continue to serve the state for many years.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution in a work zone and reminds them never to enter a roadway that has been blocked with barricades or cones.
