Designs for Hwy 4 in St. James topic of May 29 open house
Construction scheduled for 2016
MANKATO, Minn. — The public is encouraged to attend an open house on the reconstruction of Highway 4 through St. James from 5 to 7 p.m. with a presentation at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at the Watonwan County Library, 125th Street, South, St. James.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the city of St. James are partnering to make improvements to Highway 4/30 (Armstrong Boulevard). MnDOT engineers and city planners are ready to narrow down the project designs and are looking for feedback. Information will be shared on sidewalk locations, limits of construction, intersection improvements and parking. They recently studied mini-roundabouts in GM Runge’s parking lot as an option to signalized intersections and videos of large vehicles using the roundabouts can be found on the project website at www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/hwy4stjames/
The project, which extends from south of Watonwan County Fairgrounds to 11th Avenue North, includes utility replacement throughout the project, upgrading sidewalk and pedestrian ramps for safe ADA accessible accommodations, lighting, and intersection and access revisions.
