Expect delays on Hwy 22 north of Mapleton May 21-22

MANKATO, Minn. — Motorists are advised to expect delays on Highway 22 from Mapleton to Blue Earth County Road 15 on Wednesday and Thursday, May 21-22 as maintenance crews apply a temporary seal coat to the rough section that has been shaved off.

The repair work, which consisted of shaving off a thin layer of the rough surface in April, is a relatively new technique that is being tested by MnDOT engineers. The temperatures have now finally increased to a point where product is available and sealing can take place.

The public is advised that this is only a short-term fix that will likely result in rough conditions prior to the major pavement work in scheduled for 2017-18 from Mankato to Mapleton.

Highway 22 traffic will be controlled with flaggers and pilot cars.  Motorists should slow down, drive with caution and watch for workers, equipment and traffic control devices.
