Orange barrels on a highway

Expect delays on Hwy 22 north of Mapleton beginning April 7

Crews to make surface repairs

MANKATO, Minn. –  Motorists are advised to expect delays on Hwy 22 from Mapleton to Blue Earth County Road 90 beginning Monday, April 7 as maintenance crews repair the rough conditions of the road surface in that area.

The repair work, which consists of shaving off a thin layer of the rough surface, is expected to take five days and is a relatively new technique that is being tested by MnDOT engineers. The surface will be sealed later in the season when conditions allow.  Hwy 22 from Mapleton to Mankato is scheduled for major pavement work in 2017-18.

Hwy 22 traffic will be controlled with flaggers and pilot cars.  Motorists should slow down, drive with caution and watch for workers, equipment and traffic control devices.
