Electrical work for Hwy 22 Mankato roundabouts project begins April 21
Expect temporary lane closures and brief city street closures
MANKATO, Minn. –Mankato area shoppers should expect some minor traffic impacts as utility prep work begins for the construction and subsequent detours for the Highway 22 roundabout project beginning April 21.
Electrical work at the intersections of Raintree Road and Bassett Drive and at Haefner Drive and Adams Street will result in temporary lane closures and brief (5 to 10 minutes) closures when contractors string electrical lines across the road. The work is necessary for the temporary access to the Gander Mountain/Hy Vee parking lot and the temporary signals for the detour.
Other utility relocations are also underway.
Construction of the roundabouts at Adams Street and Madison Avenue is expected to begin May 12, but no detour will be in place until June. To plan for the detour and find local access to all of the retail shops, visit roundaboutready.com/ and click on About the Project.
Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye was awarded the contract with a bid of $7.1 million.
