Meeting on Hwy 169 construction impacts set for Dec. 5
MnDOT and Saint Peter finalizing contract for reconstruction for 2014
MANKATO, Minn. – Businesses and residents are encouraged to attend a meeting regarding the potential impacts during construction on Hwy 169 at the north end of Saint Peter to LeSueur. An open house is set for Thursday, Dec. 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Senior Center at the Saint Peter Community Center.
Hwy 169 construction from Union Street in Saint Peter to LeSueur is scheduled for May to November, 2014.
Staff from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the City of Saint Peter will be available to review the construction staging, detours and temporary accesses.
In Saint Peter, the project includes making safety improvements at intersections along Hwy 169 in 2014. The intersections with St. Julian and Hwy 22 are targeted for revisions because they have above average crash rates. Safety improvements are also planned that impact intersections with Union Street, Ritt Street and Dranttel Street. North of Saint Peter the work includes resurfacing the southbound lanes of Hwy 169 and raising two miles of flood-prone roadway between Saint Peter and Le Sueur.
MnDOT has similar plans for Hwy 169 from Mankato to Saint Peter in 2016. For more information on the flood mitigation projects visit www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/floodmitigation/ .
