Hwy 14/15 bridge over Minnesota River in New Ulm closing Sept. 16

Two week closure needed for railing work

MANKATO, Minn. – The Hwy 14/15 bridge over the Minnesota River in New Ulm is scheduled to close Monday, Sept. 16 for approximately two weeks for bridge work.

Traffic will be detoured to Nicollet County Road 37/20th Street bridge crossing.  Motorists are asked to follow the signs.

The closure is necessary to accommodate repair work on the railings.  The bridge crew from the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be strengthening  the rail by filling in selected gaps with reinforced concrete.

This additional strength  will provide an added measure of safety until the bridge is replaced in 2018.
