Hwy 14 lanes in North Mankato open Oct. 1
Interchange with County Road 41 remains closed
MANKATO, Minn. – Hwy 14 motorists in North Mankato can drive on three of the four new lanes beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1 around 9 a.m.
Both westbound lanes and the westbound Hwy 14 ramp from Lookout Drive will open.
Only one eastbound lane (outside lane) will open on Oct. 1 as a few more days of finishing work at the bridge and on guardrail are needed.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the single eastbound lane will be diverted to the Nicollet County Road 41 ramps for several hours to allow crews access to the false work under the new bridge.
The new interchange with Nicollet County Road 41 will open in early October, according to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The two-year, $16.3 million construction project included two additional miles of four-lane to Nicollet County Road 6, as well as the County Road 41 interchange in North Mankato.
The project includes a total of three roundabouts associated with County Road 41. Driving tips and more information on roundabouts can be found at www.dot.state.mn.us/roundabouts/ .
MnDOT, Nicollet County and the City of North Mankato partnered on the project. Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye was the prime contractor for both the 2012 and 2013 projects. More information can be found at www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/14northmankato/ .
