Orange barrels on a highway

Road preservation projects scheduled for area highways

MANKATO, Minn. –  Motorists can expect brief delays on area Hwys beginning Monday, July 29, as contractor crews complete preventive maintenance seal coating projects to extend the life of the pavement surface on Hwys 19, 15, 14, 4, and 60 in LeSueur, Nicollet, Watonwan and Jackson counties

During this work, a pilot car and flaggers will control traffic, and motorists should plan for daily lane closures in the area where crews are working.  Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for loose gravel and oil spraying in these areas.  The work zone speed limit is 40 mph.

Crews will be working during daylight hours between sunrise and sunset.

The highway segments scheduled for the preventative maintenance include:

Hwy 19 from Hwy 169 to New Prague
Hwy 14 from New Ulm to Nicollet
Hwy 15 from Hwy 60 to Watonwan/Brown County line
Hwy 15/60 from the south junction to south of Madelia
Hwy 4 from Ormsby to Hwy 60
Hwy 60 eastbound near south Junction 15/60
Hwy 60 eastbound in Jackson County

Once the work is completed on one segment of roadway, crews will move to the next section until the project is completed.  The work is expected to be done by late August, weather permitting.

Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation (ASTECH), based in St. Cloud is the contractor on the project consisting of 48 miles of roadway and shoulder repair.
