Orange barrels on a highway

Detour for Hwy 59 north of Worthington August 5

MANKATO, Minn. – The detour for Hwy 59 is expected to expand on August 5 for construction on the north edge of Worthington for about two months as the city replaces culverts and makes other infrastructure improvements.

The detour for Hwy 59 motorists north of I-90 will include Nobles County Roads 25, 7 and 14.

Worthington was awarded a Transportation Economic Development (TED) grant to extend the 4-lane divided section of Hwy 59 north 1,200 feet, and to construct and extend turning lanes. These improvements will open up 750 acres for a new industrial park and create access to a new bioscience park.  The new industrial park is expected to create 440 jobs in the next 5 years.

South of I-90, Hwy 59 motorists continue to be detoured to Nobles County Road 10 until the completion of the Hwy 60 reconstruction this fall.
