Hwy 5 from Arlington to Green Isle construction may begin Aug. 5
Project start date pending utility work
MANKATO, Minn. – Hwy 5 motorists from Arlington to Green Isle may be detoured to county roads beginning August 5 if local utilities can be repositioned in time.
The nearly $5 million dollar pavement replacement project includes replacing the culvert at the south edge of Green Isle and relocating it with a new channel. The utilities are located in the area of the culvert and need to be moved to accommodate construction.
When the project begins traffic will be detoured to Sibley County Road 9, McCleod County Roads 1 and 10 and Carver County Road 50. Heavy commercial traffic will be detoured to Sibley County Road 13 and 15 and then connect to the remaining detour to avoid the weight-restricted bridge on County Road 9.
Knife River Corporation – North Central of Sauk Rapids is the contractor on the project that includes seven miles of pavement replacement and a mill and overlay in Green Isle. The project is expected to be complete in late September.
