Hwy 169 access reviewed at open house on August 12

MnDOT finalizing designs for Union Street to Hwy 22 in Saint Peter

MANKATO, Minn. – Businesses and residents are encouraged to review plans for changes to access on Hwy 169 on the north end of Saint Peter.  An open house is set for Monday, August 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Senior Center at the Saint Peter Community Center.

The open house is scheduled prior to the Saint Peter City Council meeting at 7 p.m. ,which an official hearing on the Hwy 169 project will take place.

Staff from the Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to make safety improvements at intersections along Hwy 169 in 2014.  The intersections with St. Julian and Hwy 22 are targeted for revisions because they have above average crash rates. Safety improvements are also planned that impact intersections with Union Street, Ritt Street and Dranttel Street.

2014 is also the year when MnDOT plans to resurface the southbound lanes of Hwy 169 and raise two miles of flood-prone roadway between Saint Peter and Le Sueur.  MnDOT has similar plans for Hwy 169 from Mankato to Saint Peter in 2016.  For more information on the flood mitigation projects visit www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/floodmitigation/ .
