Hwy 169 access topic of public meeting on April 17

MnDOT working on a design for Union Street to Highway 22 in Saint Peter

MANKATO, Minn. — Businesses and residents are encouraged to provide input into a concept that will revise access to Highway 169 on the north end of Saint Peter. An open house is set for Wednesday, April 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Saint Peter Community Center.

Staff from the Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking to improve intersection safety along Highway 169 in 2014. The intersections with St. Julian and Highway 22 are targeted for revisions because they have above average crash rates. The intersections of Union Street, Ritt Street, and Dranttel Street with Highway 169 are also targeted for access revisions.

2014 is also the year when MnDOT plans to resurface the southbound lanes of Highway 169 and raise two miles of flood-prone roadway between Saint Peter and Le Sueur. MnDOT has similar plans for Highway 169 from Mankato to Saint Peter in 2016.
