Hwy 22 south of Mankato opened Friday, Nov. 9
LeSueur River bank work continues

MANKATO, Minn. – Hwy 22  south of Mankato opened to traffic Friday afternoon, Nov. 9.

Crews will continue with their project  to stabilize the LeSueur River bank one mile south of Blue Earth County Road 90, but the majority of work will take place off the Hwy.

Traffic was detoured to County Road 90, Hwy 83 and Blue Earth County Road 15 for about one week as trucks haul rip rap (large rocks) and gabions (cages with rock) down a steep hill.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation in coordination with the Department of Natural Resources is stabilizing two areas where past flooding has eroded the river bank and threatens to impact Hwy 22.  The project should be completed by the end of November.

Mathiowetz Construction Company of Sleepy Eye is the contractor on the $471,466 project.
