North Mankato roundabout to open next week
MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists will be able to use three of the four legs of the new roundabout at Pleasant View Drive, Nicollet County Road 6 and Nicollet County Road 41 in North Mankato by next week.
Crews had planned to open the roundabout today, but an unknown motorist drove around the barricade and onto concrete that was not cured. Repairs to the concrete are delaying the opening.
The roundabout is tied to the new interchange for County Road 41 and Highway 14. The project, which will be completed at the end of 2013, includes a total of three roundabouts. Driving tips include:
- Prior to the roundabout watch for signing for lane assignments
- When approaching a roundabout, slow down and get into the appropriate lane
- Yield to pedestrians
- Yield to traffic in all circular lanes. Merge when it is safe.
- Continue through the roundabout until you reach your exit. Do not stop or pass in a roundabout.
