Hwy 22 south of Mankato closes for one week beginning Nov. 5
LeSueur River bank work scheduled

MANKATO, Minn. – Hwy 22 motorists south of Mankato can expect a detour beginning Nov. 5 for crews working to stabilize the LeSueur River bank one mile south of Blue Earth County Road 90.

Traffic will be detoured to County Road 90, Hwy 83 and Blue Earth County Road 15 for about one week as trucks haul rip rap (large rocks) and gabions (cages with rock) down a steep hill.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is stabilizing two areas where past flooding has eroded the river bank and threatens to impact Hwy 22.  Work will continue after the detour is lifted and the project should be completed by the end of November.

Mathiowetz Construction Company of Sleepy Eye is the contractor on the $471,466 project.
