Local traffic causing safety concerns on Hwy 14
New access for Nicollet County Road 6 should be complete by November
MANKATO, Minn. – Local motorists trying to shorten their trip to the new stretch of Hwy 14 near North Mankato are creating unsafe driving conditions on Hwy 14.
It is illegal for motorists to drive through the median to access Hwy 14. This is also dangerous - Hwy 14 traffic is not expecting motorists to go around the barriers and cannot see vehicles entering.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has asked State Patrol to increase patrol in the area.
Traffic from Nicollet County Road 6 should continue to use Nicollet County Road 77 to access Hwy 14 until the roundabout at Nicollet County Road 41 is completed in November.
The Hwy 14 four-lane expansion and new interchange with County Road 41 will be complete by the end of the 2013 construction season.
