Hwy 169/60 resurfacing project restricts traffic beginning June 4
Ramp closures begin June 8

MANKATO, Minn. –  A resurfacing project on Hwy 169/60 from the Minnesota River North Star Bridge in Mankato to Blue Earth County Road 115 near Welch’s Apple Orchard will result in various lane restrictions beginning Monday, June 4.

The work will also require ramp closures at the Frontage Road ramp near CHS Oilseed Processing (Honeymead) beginning Friday, June 8, and at the Riverfront Drive ramps near the Y on Tuesday, June 12.

The Hwy 169/60 lane restrictions will be in place until mid-July. The Hwy 169/60 Frontage Road ramp will open before the Riverfront Drive ramps close. Pedestrians will also be restricted as work at the ramps includes replacing sidewalk and curb ramps. Repair work on the ramps is expected to take about two weeks.

The project will require motorists to reduce their speeds and expect delays, and it will make the highway smoother and safer.

Extra law enforcement will patrol the project to ensure the safety of workers and motorists. Fines double in work zones.

The project includes repairing the concrete, resurfacing the asphalt sections, improving pedestrian accessibility in Mankato and revising the signal system. Central Specialties of Alexandria is the contractor for the $5,443,653 project.
