New surface for Hwy 109 presents opportunities for drain tile repairs
MANKATO, Minn. – Plans for a new surface on Hwy 109 from Hwy 169 at Winnebago to the east junction of Faribault County Road 17 this summer provides an opportunity for land owners with damaged drain crossings, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The project consists of removing the asphalt surface, recycling it for a base and adding new pavement for the surface. Motorists can expect a much smoother ride when the project is complete in fall 2012.
When the old surface is removed, MnDOT has the opportunity to deal with drain tile issues in the highway right of way. Anyone with tile crossings in need of repair is encouraged to contact MnDOT Designer Craig Felber at 507-304-6145 or craig.felber@state.mn.us by April 1.
The construction will require a detour to Hwy 169, Interstate 90, and Faribault County Road 17 for the duration of the project.
