Hwy 4 to be reconstructed on existing route in St. James
MANKATO, Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation has decided to reconstruct Hwy 4 on its existing route through St. James with a project planned for 2016. The decision concurs with the recent recommendation from the city of St. James and public input.
MnDOT and the city of St. James considered rerouting Hwy 4 at St. James with a west bypass using existing county roads; however, with the added costs and limited traffic that would use the bypass, the consensus is to keep Hwy 4 traffic on the current alignment through town.
MnDOT will continue to work closely with city officials as they develop construction plans for Hwy 4. Additional public meetings will be held to gather input into the Hwy designs.
