Public meetings on Hwy 60 St. James to Windom project set for Dec. 13, 15
Draft environmental document available for review
MANKATO, Minn. – People interested in the proposed improvements on Hwy 60 in Cottonwood and Watonwan counties can attend one or both public information open houses on Tuesday, Dec. 13 in Windom and Thursday, Dec. 15 in Butterfield.
The first of the two meetings will be held Dec. 13 from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Windom Community Center in Windom. The second meeting will take place Dec. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Butterfield Fire Hall in Butterfield.
The purpose of each open house is to inform the public about the Hwy 60 improvements, address questions and record written and verbal comments for inclusion in the official project record. Maps, drawings and other pertinent information, including the Draft Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement, will be available for public review. The public also will be able to discuss the project with representatives from MnDOT and project consultant Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.
Copies of the Draft SFEIS will be available for public viewing at the public meeting and during business hours at the following locations:

- Mountain Lake Public Library, 1054 Fourth Ave., Mountain Lake, MN 56159

- Region 9 – Blue Earth County Library, 100 E. Main St., Mankato, MN 56002

Written comments can be submitted at the public meeting or mailed prior to the close of the public comment period Jan. 4, 2012, to Peter Harff, MnDOT project manager, 2151 Bassett Drive, Mankato, MN 56001, or via email at peter.harff@state.mn.us.
The proposed project includes construction of a four-lane highway section within the three gap sections between St. James and Windom. Additional project information is available at: www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/hwy60stjames.
