Hwy 14 North Mankato project moves forward with revised plan
Construction stays on schedule for 2012-2013
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today that the Hwy 14 project in North Mankato will be completed as scheduled (2012-2013), but will be divided into two phases with the intention of better managing scope and risk.
The first phase is scheduled to be let for construction in March 2012 with work beginning in May 2012. The 2012 work includes:
- Constructing embankment for bridge and ramps at Nicollet County Hwy 41
- Constructing ditches, ponds, and drainage structures
- Grading mainline Hwy 14
- Paving eastbound Hwy 14 lanes
- Grading, paving and completing connections to Nicollet County Hwy 6 and Pleasant View Drive
Traffic will be detoured during the construction season, but will be restored to Hwy 14 one lane each way during the winter months.
In 2013 the construction work includes completing the project by:
- Paving westbound Hwy 14, County Hwy 41 interchange ramps, loops and connections
- Constructing County Hwy 41 bridge and roundabouts
- Final turf establishment, striping and signing
