Paving begins on Hwy 30 and Hwy 83 resurfacing projects
Detours continue into fall

MANKATO, Minn. -- Paving operations will begin on Hwy 30 from Amboy to Mapleton Monday, Aug. 15, and on Hwy 83 from Mankato to Hwy 30 in early September.

Hwy 30 traffic will continue to be detoured until late September.  The detour currently includes Hwy 169, Blue Earth County Road 142 and Blue Earth County Road 18. The detour route will change to include Blue Earth County Road 29 and Blue Earth County Road 7 after the western portion of the project is complete.

Hwy 83 traffic will continue to detour on Hwy 22 and Hwy 30 until mid-October.

Some work began on both resurfacing projects shortly after the state government shutdown, but paving operations were stalled until the contractor could move an asphalt plant back into the area.

Both projects began in June and use the reclamation process. The existing pavement will be recycled on site and used as a foundation for the new surface of the road. This results in cost savings and a longer pavement life.
