Hwy 60 construction expands into Worthington June 6
Open house set for June 15
MANKATO, Minn. – The Hwy 60 four-lane expansion project south of Worthington will extend into Worthington beginning approximately June 6, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
An open house for residents and businesses affected by construction is set for June 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Farmers Room at the Nobles County Courthouse, 315 10th St., Worthington. Work will impact the Kragness Avenue area and Morningside neighborhood. The public is encouraged to stop in to meet the contractors and MnDOT staff and ask questions about the project.
Constructing a new alignment is included in this second phase of Hwy 60 construction from Paul Avenue to south of the Union Pacific Railroad bridge. This phase also includes constructing the first roundabout on Hwy 60 at Nobles County Road 35.
Union Pacific Railroad Bridge construction over Hwy 60 is also expected to begin in June. Both projects will require a new Hwy 60 detour in late-June. Instead of using Nobles County Road 35, the detour will extend north along Nobles County Road 5 to Hwy 60 for the remainder of the 2011 construction season.
Hwy 60 phase three construction from Nobles County Road 35 to Interstate 90 begins in 2012.
R & G Construction Company, Marshall, Minn., is the prime contractor for the segment from Paul Avenue to Nobles County Road 35. Mathiowetz Construction, Sleepy Eye, Minn., is the prime contractor on the rural segment from Nobles County Road 4 to Paul Avenue.
