Hwy 14 noise impacts to be discussed at public meeting June 29
MANKATO, Minn. – North Mankato residents along Hwy 14 are encouraged to attend a public meeting about installing a noise wall as part of the upcoming Hwy 14 reconstruction project scheduled to begin as early as this fall.
The open house is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the North Mankato Fire Station #2, 1825 Howard Drive. Residents can share thoughts about whether or not they want a noise wall installed.
MnDOT assessed the noise impacts in 2002 as part of the Environmental Assessment; however, additional housing was built near Hwy 14. Noise levels are expected to exceed state daytime and nighttime standards for a number of homes as projected traffic increases.
The Hwy 14 project includes an interchange with Nicollet County Road 41 and associated roundabouts and a two-mile extension of four lanes to Nicollet County Hwy 6. The project adds capacity, improves continuity and access management and supports local development. More information about the project is available at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/14northmankato/
