Hwy 14 noise impacts to be discussed at public meeting June 29
MANKATO, Minn. – North Mankato residents along Hwy 14 are encouraged to attend a public meeting about installing a noise wall as part of the upcoming Hwy 14 reconstruction project scheduled to begin as early as this fall.
The open house is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the North Mankato Fire Station #2, 1825 Howard Drive. Residents can share thoughts about whether or not they want a noise wall installed.
MnDOT assessed the noise impacts in 2002 as part of the Environmental Assessment; however, additional housing was built near Hwy 14. Noise levels are expected to exceed state daytime and nighttime standards for a number of homes as projected traffic increases.
The Hwy 14 project includes an interchange with Nicollet County Road 41 and associated roundabouts and a two-mile extension of four lanes to Nicollet County Hwy 6. The project adds capacity, improves continuity and access management and supports local development.
