Hwy 71 south of Windom opens to traffic by 4 p.m. today
MANKATO, Minn. –The new Hwy 71 bridge located one-half mile south of Hwy 60 junction near Windom will be open to traffic by 4 p.m. today (Nov. 24), according to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Hwy 71 has been closed since July 12 and was expected to be complete by mid-October, but the contractor experienced a significant delay due to high waters in September.
The existing bridge was replaced. The new bridge features engineering improvements and improved functionality. Duininck, Inc. was the prime contractor for the $1.5 million project.
