State transportation agencies moving to new Mankato facility
Open house planned for November
MANKATO, Minn. – By the end of the month, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, State Patrol and Driver and Vehicle Services plan to be located on Bassett Drive east of Highway 22 in Mankato (next to Lowe’s).
A new multi-transportation facility has been constructed to house the three regional state offices for improved customer service, coordination and efficiency.
Mn/DOT, the largest agency and builder of the new facility, is moving in phases over the next few weeks and customers are encouraged to call ahead to find out where they can best receive service. Mn/DOT phone numbers will not change. The main phone number remains 507-304-6100.
State Patrol and DVS plan to close their current offices Sept. 23 and 24 and open their new offices on Sept. 27. Both agencies will have new phone numbers after the move. State Patrol can be reached at 507-344-2750 and DVS at 507-344-2799.
Construction began on the new $24 million facility in 2009. Mn/DOT received the funding through the 2008 Transportation Bill (MN Chapter 152). Initial efforts to remodel the existing building on Victory Drive date back to 1986. It was determined that a new facility would be more cost effective.
A public open house at the new facility is planned for Nov. 9.
