Weekly information meetings begin July 10
MANKATO, Minn. - Citizens interested in the Highway 169 design-build project in Saint Peter are invited to an open house on Thursday, June 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Saint Peter Community Center, 600 South Fifth Street.
Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, city of St. Peter and the contractor will provide attendees with information about the roadway and street scape design, the upcoming construction schedule, planned traffic detours and what to expect during construction.
In addition, weekly meetings for interested property owners will be held at 7:30 a.m. Friday mornings at the Saint Peter Community Center starting Friday, July 10 and continuing until November.
Traffic detours and major construction on Highway 169 are expected to begin on Monday, July 6, weather permitting. Advance construction activities, including a mill and overlay on Front Street between Jefferson and Walnut, will occur prior to July 6.
The Highway 169 design-build project extends from Highway 22 South to Union Street, a distance of about 1.5 miles. Construction will be mostly completed in November with some finishing work remaining in 2010. Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. was selected as the design-build contractor for the reconstruction project, which is funded as part of the federal economic stimulus package.
