Mankato, Minn. – A safety improvement project on U.S. Highway 169 at the north edge of Mankato (near Happy Chef) is expected to begin May 15 and will result in lane restrictions, according to Mn/DOT Project Supervisor Susan Museus.
The construction work, which includes access improvements and grading and paving from the interchange with U.S. Highway 14 to north of Hiniker Saw Mill, will always allow for access to the businesses along Highway 169.
Motorists will need to pay attention in the work zone as the traffic control will change during various stages of the project.
The project is expected to be complete in late August and will result in an additional acceleration lane, modifications to access points and a reconstruction of Lake Street.
Southern Minnesota Construction Company of Mankato was awarded the project with a bid of $1,683,000.
