The
resurfacing work planned for Highway 60 from Iowa to Worthington
is set to begin as early as Thursday (June 2) of this week, according
to Project Supervisor Ken Janovsky from the Minnesota Department
of Transportation.
Motorists should be aware of lane closures in Worthington near
the Swift Plant for the construction of turning lanes this week.
Paving operations for the two-lane rural roadway should begin
next week resulting in traffic controlled with a pilot car.
Motorists will need to slow down and drive with caution throughout
the project; watch for workers, equipment and traffic control
devices.
The project includes a mill and overlay of Highway 60 from three
miles north of Iowa to Worthington, plus several turn lanes in
Worthington. Central Specialties, Inc. of Alexandria was awarded
the project with a bid of $1,569,000.
Construction was initially scheduled to take place in July and
August. Mn/DOT now anticipates the completion by late June.
