Mankato,
Minn. - The expansion project on U.S. Highway 14 from Janesville
to Waseca will result in several detours for Waseca County
Roads, according to Susan Museus, project supervisor at
the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
As
early as Wednesday, June 30 Waseca County Road 2 between
Waseca County Road 17 and U.S. Highway 14 (near Brown Printing)
will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 14.
Shortly
after the 4th of July Holiday, Waseca County Road 3 just
south of Janesville will be detoured to Waseca County Roads
2, 37 and 60 for automobiles. Heavy or commercial trucks
will need to use the detour with a slight modification depending
on their destination (east or west).
All
motorists will need to look for the detour signing. Changes
to detours and additional detours will take place as necessary
throughout the project. Additional detour information will
be provided at the public open house scheduled for Wednesday,
July 7 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Maddy B's in Janesville.
Both
detours will likely be in place for the majority of the
three year project as the closed areas are locations for
future interchanges that will require grading, foundation
soil settlement and bridges.
The
10-mile expansion project includes a south bypass of Janesville
and three bridges. The project should be complete by fall
2006.
