Mankato, Minn. - Beginning the week of May 17, State Highway 112 south of LeSueur will be detoured to accommodate a safety project at the sharp curve near LeSueur County Highway 23 and a culvert replacement about three miles east, according to Project Supervisor Nathan Gannon, at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The detour consists of LeSueur County Roads 115 and 15 and will be in place about two months.

The safety project includes reconstructing the curve for a more gradual turn and realigning the connection with County Highway 23.

In April, Mn/DOT announced that the project would take place in July and August, but the earlier dates worked better for Mn/DOT and the contractor's schedules.

Southern Minnesota Construction of Mankato was awarded the project with a bid of $890,431.
