Highway 169 in Mankato - Status Update Due to Rain (again)

Mankato, Minn. - The Lookout Drive ramp closure will be extended due to Monday's rains slowing the paving operation. Weather permitting, the Lookout Drive ramps with U.S. Highway 169 will be closed tonight and until late afternoon on Wednesday (May 26), according to Charlie Kremer, project supervisor at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, on Thursday (May 27) milling on Highway 169 will take place in the area of the U.S. Highway 14 interchange, resulting in intermittent detours for eastbound Highway 14 traffic accessing northbound Highway 169 and northbound Highway 169 traffic accessing westbound Highway 14. The detours should only be in place about one to two hours. Traffic will be directed with signing to Highway 14 and 3rd Avenue.

The Highway 169 intersections with Lind Street and Webster Avenue will be impacted again by the milling on the northbound lanes on Thursday.

No closures are expected during the Memorial Day Weekend, but traffic will remain restricted to one lane each way. Work will resume on Tuesday, June 1.

Motorists should expect to reduce their speed to 40 mph, watch for lane changes and restrictions, occasional ramp closures and four-way stops at signalized intersections. Mn/DOT officials are retaining extra enforcement to ensure the safety of the travelers and workers on this project.
