Mankato,
Minn. - As early as June 1, construction on State Highway
15/60 near Madelia may start, according to Ken Janovsky,
project supervisor at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists
should expect lane closures and speeds reduced to 40 mph
on Highway 60 where work consists of concrete rehabilitation,
milling and surfacing during June and July.
On
Highway 15 just north of Madelia, traffic will be detoured
throughout June to Watonwan County Roads 3 and 9 through
Madelia for the road to be re-graded and surfaced.
The
project was awarded to Central Specialties, Incorporated
of Alexandria with a bid of $2,599,342.
Mn/DOT
reminds motorists to drive with caution and be aware of
workers, equipment and traffic control devices.
Another
resurfacing project on a short section of Highway 15 south
of Truman and Highway 262 near Granada was also awarded
to Central Specialties.
The
Highways 15 and 262 project was initially scheduled to begin
in early September, but the contractor may opt to begin
in mid-July (after completing the Madelia project), according
to Janovsky.
