Mankato, Minn. - Once again, State Highway 19 motorists from the west will need to use a detour to access Highway 169 northbound lanes until the new interchange is complete. The detour, which consists of State Highway 93, will be in place on Friday, February 27.

Motorists are also reminded that spring weight road restrictions will also be in place beginning Friday.

Portions of the new interchange were temporarily surfaced with gravel to open the interchange to accommodate northbound traffic over the winter. The gravel portions are becoming impassible during the spring thaw. After the thaw, contractors will resume work on the interchange.

Highway 19 to the east of the interchange also remains closed and traffic detoured until the project can be completed in July.

The detour for Highway 19 east to New Prague consists of State Highway 93, U. S. Highway 169 and LeSueur County Highways 28 and 11.

The Highway 169/19 interchange has been under construction since May 2002.
