HIGHWAY 60 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULED TO START

MANKATO, Minn. ---

State Highway 60 from Nobles/Jackson County Line to West Edge of Heron Lake will be under construction beginning sometime during the week of October 18, according to Stan Jans, project manager at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) at Windom.

The project includes grading, side road grading and surfacing, and bridges on the westbound lane and turn lanes on the eastbound lane. The Contractor=s intent is to concentrate on the construction of the bridge fills this fall and to continue with grading as long as weather permits. The highway will be under construction until mid-summer of 2000.

R and G Construction Co. of Marshall was awarded the project with a bid of $4,335,000.

Mn/DOT advises motorists to use caution in the work zone. Motorists should watch for workers, equipment and traffic control devices, follow other vehicles at a safe distance and prepare for the unexpected.
