I-90 bridge replacement

Starting in the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 24, motorists will encounter a temporary closure and detour of the eastbound I-90 exit ramp (Exit 267) near Nodine in Winona County as crews replace culverts and regrade the ramp for the new bridge over the interstate.

Detour: Eastbound I-90 motorists who want to use the exit and Winona County Road 12 should continue eastbound on I-90 to the next exit and follow detour signs to go on westbound I-90 and use Exit 267 to Winona County Road 12. The ramp detour is expected to last several weeks.

Summary of work

In 2020, MnDOT is replacing the Interstate 90 bridge at Nodine. The new bridge is being built adjacent to the current bridge, so the bridge will remain open through much of the construction work. The westbound I-90 entrance ramp is being extended, and the right-turn lane to eastbound I-90 entrance ramp is being installed as well.

Further east, the I-90 eastbound bridge over Dakota Valley Drive is being replaced.

Traffic impacts

Traffic management

  • Motorists will encounter lane closures on Interstate 90 near Nodine in Winona County.
  • Lanes will be closed in both directions on I-90 between Exit 267 at Winona County Road 12 and Exit 270 at Hwy 61 near Dakota. There is a vehicle width limit in effect.
  • Short-term ramp detours when the ramps are paved and connected to the new bridge.
  • Eastbound I-90 motorists will travel around the bridge replacement at Dakota Valley Drive on a temporary road south of the bridge, meaning the township road will be closed at that location during construction.
