Remove the existing center island curb and construction of a truck apron. A truck apron is a concrete section around the central island that acts as an extra lane for large vehicles and vehicles with trailers. Truck aprons allow for the back wheels of an oversized vehicle’s trailer to ride up on the apron so it may easily complete the turn. The raised concrete portion of the truck apron discourages it use by smaller vehicles.
