Access under Winona Bridge at Latsch Island closed Sept. 17 for bridge truss placement
WINONA, Minn. – The road under the Highway 43 Winona Bridge at Latsch Island will be closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17 while workers place the last span of deck trusses on the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
On Sept. 18, flaggers will allow motorists through as the work on the trusses in completed. Short delays are likely.
The new Winona Bridge, Bridge No. 85851, carries Highway 43 traffic in both directions across the bridge while the historic Winona Bridge, Bridge No. 5900, is closed and being rehabilitated. The older bridge is expected to open to traffic in the fall of 2019. Contracts for the new bridge and the rehabilitation work total $145.8 million.
