Hwy 42 roundabout near Eyota opens to traffic on Aug. 31
EYOTA, Minn. – Work to build a new roundabout at Highway 42 and Olmsted County Road 9 north of Eyota is completed, so motorists will be able to travel on Highway 42 beginning at 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Some additional work remains adjacent to the highway. Workers will be in the area in the coming week, but the highway will be open to traffic and no longer detoured beginning Friday afternoon.
Traffic had been detoured since May when the project began.
Chippewa Concrete Services, Inc. of Chippewa Falls, Wis., is the prime contractor on the $1.8 million project. The project, which is a joint effort between MnDOT and Olmsted County, should improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection.
