Rice County Road 9 bridge deck paving, repair work will close bridge Aug. 27

FARIBAULT, Minn. – Motorists who use the Rice County Road 9 bridge over Interstate 35 north of Faribault will need to make alternate route plans beginning Aug. 27 as crews repair and pave the bridge deck, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The bridge will close Aug. 27 when work begins to remove a portion of the bridge deck surface. Repairs will also be done at that time before a new 2-inch concrete surface is poured in September. Work is expected to be completed at the end of the month, when the bridge will reopen.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
